Sepi Sessions - Recording Mike (bass)

Friday, September 29th, 2006

Mike rocksOur good friend, Rana, happened to be at the space when we were recording Mike’s bass to Heliocentric Model. She takes wonderful photos and is happy to share them with us and thusly, with you. She is going to take band shots of us soon, as soon as we can get all five of us in the same room. That should start some rumors: ‘We don’t get along‘; ‘Sepi’s ego is out of control‘; ‘Nate’s gas is out of control‘; ‘Bill’s on drugs‘. All of which are far from the truth (except my ego).

Les Savy Fav - Go Forth

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

I have been reading some MP3Blogs lately and I love the idea (see the sidebar for links). And when I was driving around listening to Les Savy Fav’s Go Forth, I just wanted to share it with the world. So with my first installment, I give you some of Les Savy Fav, Go Forth:

It’s hard for me to explain why I like this album so much. I can only use words like teethy and wet sand. I highly recommend headphones at all times.

Lyric Excerpt: “Who here finds this world distracting, Who here finds this world a bore… I for one am dazzled!”

EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that it is frowned upon to make available someone’s whole album. I have trimmed it down some songs, but they are so good, I could only do so much. Please dont sue me.

Last.fm

last.fm // joesepi
Have any of you out there heard of this site? It’s like internet radio, only better. You sign up (free) and download their little “audio scrobbler” (dont ask). Then when you listen to music on your computer (iTunes or whatever) it takes note of what you’ve been listening and recommends music based on that. You can also search for artists and listen to ‘radio’ based on similar artists. It’s really hard to explain, but fun and stuff.

This is where that little graphic to the right is coming from. I am on there as joesepi, feel free to look me up and add me as your friend. We can sit around and make mix tapes like the old days.

I am also adding our records up there - see Pensamplivox.

EDIT: And you know what else? I am finding this really useful as I clean out my ridiculously large music library. I can scroll through things and click on something I hadn’t heard. With the Audio Scrobbler open, it instantly gives me a brief bio. For example, I didn’t realize A Certain Ratio were right along Gang of Four and Cabaret Voltaire in pioneering the post-punk/funk stuff from the UK in the late 70’s. This last.fm, I like.

Underlines and Underscores

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Getting way out of here
What’s to fear
Shards of truth coming out of your ear
These things are like thoughts
Words are for naught
At least for the next year
Sipping last past
Makes great for the cast
But all you ever find is an eyelash in your beer
Glue is not needed for things not seated
Come fun rain or shine cant be beated
Whats truth for the lie
Underscores and underlines
What you’ve paid for in dimes
Comes out in the end
As Free
As Breath
As Bread
As Fortune
As Dirt
As Air
As Time
As Face
As Fine [.]

Touch and Go’s 25th / Hideout’s 10th block party

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

I don’t even know what to say about last week’s events. They were historic and monumental. I wish I could sit here and recount every moment of the weekend but I cannot — it would do T&G’s anniversary no justice as this was the best ‘music festival’ I have ever attended. Not just for the music, but also the venue, the attitude, the people… everything all added up to a fantastic and memorable weekend.
